Quito has inaugurated two news bus terminals
The bus terminals of Quitumbe (south) and Carcelen (north), begin to work from this Thursday.
Some passengers mentioned that the new terminals are very comfortable and very well located, nevertheless they are already developing the new signals and the additional services in both places.
Then, when the two interprovincial bus stations were opened, the old bus terminal “Cumanda” located to the south of Quito stopped working after 23 years of operation.
Besides of the inconveniences of the first day, the users of the bus terminals did not demonstrate major disadvantages, like by example the registered the last week.

The Condor Festival in Ecuador
From July 04th to 07th, in Pintag, there will be the II Festival for the Nature and Culture in honor to the National day of the Condor.
The events are in charge of the Association “Cultura & Tierra” and the active forces of Pintag.
On Saturday July 04th it will initiate the celebration with a special program in the arena of the entry to Pintag, to 10:00.
Then, at 11:00 it will be realized the typical parade in San Isidro neighborhood.
In the bull fight ring, from 14:00, a free festival of music will be carried out in honoring to the Andean condor.

Puerto Lopez: Eleventh festival whale watching
Representatives of the Chamber of Tourism of Puerto Lopez estimate that in this canton, located south of Manabí reach approximately 60 thousand tourists, among domestic and foreign, to enjoy the eleventh festival of whale watching.
Technical environmental organizations about 30 registered births in each breeding season but it is estimated that annual number is 100. Species remain in front of Puerto López and Puerto Cayo until October, when the mothers return with their calves to Antartica.
Humpback Whale Festival marked the beginning of a series of studies, projects and surveys to Puerto Lopez and inserted in the world tourist map of sightings of marine and coastal species.
Michael Jackson the king of Pop has died

Michael Jackson.
The proclaimed King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has died tonight at age 50 of a heart attack, according to CNN the artist has been transferred to an hospital in Los Angeles after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Apparently Jackson, of 50 years, received cardio respiratory resuscitation before being taken to the hospital of the University of California (UCLA) by paramedics of the firefighters team.
The artist did not breathe when the emergency services arrived, according to the newspaper “Los Angeles Times”, and other sources have pointed out that the artist suffered a cardiac attack.

Galapagos Islands
The Galapagos Archipelago is located in position number one on the Island category, in the second phase of the New 7 Natural Wonders of the World´s contest, according to the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador.
This contest is sponsored by the Swiss organization “New7 Wonders”, which started in 2008. Voting in the second phase began on January 1 2009 and will conclude on July 7 2009.
Then, a panel of international experts will choose 21 finalists from 77 worldwide sites rated in the 7 categories established: landscapes and ice formations, islands, mountains and volcanoes, rock formations and valleys, forests, national parks and reserves , lakes, rivers and waterfalls, and seascapes.
In 2011 the New Seven Natural Wonders of the World will be known, therefore the Tourism Ministry of Ecuador invite people to support the Galapagos and Amazonia, entering to the website www.new7wonders.com, and voting for them

Who is Transito Amaguaña?

Transito Amaguaña
Rosa Elena Amaguaña, was an Ecuadorian indigenous woman, meek and fighter. In Ecuador, she is better known as Tránsito Amaguaña. During her whole life she has struggled in defense of human rights of indigenous people.
She grew up with her parents, who were workers at a Hacienda in Ecuador, therefore she knew about the exploitation to the indigenous huasipungueros. Mama Amaguaña was born on September 10, 1909; she had four sons, about 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She participated in creating the first agricultural unions of the country, the first strike of agricultural workers in Olmedo (1931) on her own initiative and without government support. In 1945, she launched rural schools, and founded in the Cayambe area, four bilingual schools (Quechua-Spanish).
She was the leader of 26 demonstrations in Quito that claimed the rights of indigenous people, and she was one of the founders in 1994 of the Ecuadorian Federation of Indigenous people.
Her objective was to achieve that peasants were valued as human beings, and not as simple entities intended to work.
She died on May 13, 2009, being 100 years old. Now she will be remembered for all the indigenous people of Ecuador, because of all of her fight against oppression.
